"Just Dance VR brings the classic dancing formula into VR with energetic routines, great music, and a surprisingly fun workout that feels even better than the flatscreen versions."

Game Overview.

Just Dance VR: Welcome to Dancity brings the long-running dance series into virtual reality, and it does so with a level of energy and charm that feels fresh even if you have played dozens of the older games.

As a Just Dance fan, this VR version instantly clicked with me.

Dancing in VR takes the experience to a new level, with movements feeling more natural and expressive than waving a controller at a television. The only thing I wish for is more songs, because I would happily pay for additional packs.

Player Experience

General Enjoyment

I love Just Dance in general, and VR makes it even better. The movement feels free, the visuals are colourful and lively, and the whole thing has an infectious energy.

The track list includes a great mix of artists, from BLACKPINK to Fall Out Boy, which adds musical variety. Discovering how well these routines translate into VR was a nice surprise, and even familiar songs feel fresh when you are performing them in a fully immersive space.

Session Length & Replayability

You can dance for as long or as little as you want, although it is a very good workout so breaks and hydration are important. For me, it works perfectly as a short daily session, but I have also jumped into longer playlists when I felt like pushing myself.

The routines are fun enough that replaying them never feels like a chore, and the upbeat nature of the game makes it easy to return to for quick bursts of cardio.

Gameplay and Controls

Mechanics

The dancing feels very fluid, and I had no issues with tracking at all. Movements register accurately, and the game does a good job of matching your arm and body motions to the choreography without feeling strict or punishing.

It captures that classic Just Dance feeling where precision matters, but not so much that it stops being fun. It is accessible without being overly simplistic, which is exactly what a VR rhythm-dance game needs.

Difficulty & Progression

There is a great mix of difficulties here. Some routines are light and easy to follow, while others are much faster and more complex.

The musical variety helps balance things out, letting you warm up on simpler tracks before moving on to more intense ones. Seeing artists like BLACKPINK alongside Fall Out Boy keeps things exciting, and the routine difficulty generally reflects the energy of the song. It is a very fair and enjoyable mix.

Action & Movement

Physical Intensity

The workout level depends on the song and how much you throw yourself into it, but on average I would call it a medium intensity workout.

Faster routines and higher speeds can absolutely get your heart racing, and the full-body movements make it a great choice for anyone wanting a fun fitness session without needing proper gym equipment. It blends rhythm and cardio in a way that feels rewarding without being overwhelming.

Accessibility

Just Dance VR is friendly to newcomers and does not demand extreme coordination to enjoy.

It requires average mobility and basic VR comfort, but nothing beyond that. The menus are simple, the routines are clearly presented, and the gameplay is forgiving enough that almost anyone can jump in and have fun within minutes. It is one of the easiest VR rhythm games to pick up.

Value for Money

Content vs Cost

The base game offers a fun selection of tracks, and while I am happy with what is included, I would be more than willing to purchase additional packs.

Song packs similar to Beat Saber or access to the Just Dance+ subscription would be ideal if Ubisoft ever adds them. As it stands, the core selection is enjoyable, balanced, and well choreographed, but expanding it would only make the game better. Even so, the quality of the routines and the overall polish make it excellent value.

Replay & Updates

As of now there have been no new song updates or announcements regarding future additions, which is unfortunate. The foundation is strong and the community is enthusiastic, so ongoing support would help keep the game fresh. Even without updates, the current content holds up well, and the game is entertaining enough that I keep returning to it regardless.
